What is Pediatric Dentistry? Unlike other dental specialties pediatric dentistry is not procedure
defined. We are an age defined specialty. We provide comprehensive dental
care for infants, children and adolescents. What is the right age for the first dental visit? The first birthday is the time for the first dental visit. Waiting
until all primary teeth are erupted is not necessary and is too late for
children that are at high risk for early childhood caries. Do not wait until
your child is in pain or you notice problems. |
Do children need to be referred to a pediatric dental
office? It is your choice whether you want your child to see a dentist with
special experience and training. Pediatric dentists are primary providers
just like pediatricians. If you are enrolled in a managed care plan the
insurer may however sometimes not give you this option of free choice. My child is too scared to visit the dentist Children are not born with fear of the dentist. A "learning
process" has to take place to create this negative emotion. We are
experienced and trained to assess children's behavior and determine which
treatment approach is in the best interest of your child. We will be happy to
discuss all options available to your child. One good way to avoid problems
is early prophylactic visits rather than waiting until severe toothaches
develop. How do I make an appointment? Call our office at (806)749 5437. Our front office team will be happy to
help you schedule a visit with us. At this time we are not able to schedule
appointments via e-mail.
